They used WSO2 DAS to define the key performance indicator (KPI), the event and the preparation of the real-time-data. Security
This session will explore an advanced information access control system for mobile devices. It has four main entities. The service provider stores the information and has a Web service that allows users to download it. Because of the ease of deployment and the ability to configure a filter that works as a policy enforcement point, this entity is deployed in the WSO2 Application Server. The identity provider authenticates and authorizes system users by verifying certain requirements before giving access to the information. It also encrypts the information with the user public keys stored during the user registration process. This entity is deployed in the WSO2 Identity Server. WSO2 Identity Server provides a user-friendly way to define single sign-on in its web application, to implement the Smartcard functionality and to define the XACML access control policies. The two final entities are a Java card that contains the user keys and a mobile device through which the user displays the information.

Today’s Internet-led world allows everyone to share their own digital heritage, use information in a multidisciplinary perspective, interact in unrestricted digital collaboration environments and participate in decision-making processes. Private companies, public administrations, research centers and public and private stakeholders can be part of the digital ecosystem and work together to create more sustainable communities. YUCCA is a platform aimed at interconnecting people, systems and things to improve the knowledge and analysis of our lives within complex environments. It is an open source self-service cloud platform that enables public and private organizations to acquire, integrate, share and reuse data produced by different sources.
The data flows are generated by people (through social networks or smartphones’ signals), systems and things (such as cameras, traffic sensors, weather stations), and can be used to create and develop new vertical applications. YUCCA is built on WSO2 products, enriched with the necessary localization and customization features. WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus and WSO2 Complex Event Processor manage the integration of different types of data sources (applications and real-time devices), protocols and invocation modes. WSO2 API Manager and WSO2 Identity Server provide the required functionalities and security levels to users in the Internet ecosystem. YUCCA and the end-to-end applications built on top of it are the results of a call for tender launched by Piedmont Region in collaboration with CSI-Piemonte. The data platform is currently being reused by projects funded by the European Union’s innovation and cooperation programs.

This session will explore the upcoming WSO2 Data Integration Server, which is an upgrade of the current WSO2 Data Service Server. It will examine its key features such as its out-of-the-box support for ETL (extract, transform and load). The WSO2 Data Integration Server can now expose anything from CRUD (create, read, update and delete) operations to complex ETL processes as data APIs in no time.

Mobile & IoT
WSO2 IoT Server encapsulates everything you need for implementing a server side Internet of things (IoT) architecture. It features an extensible framework for device manufacturers to write plugins, analytics and integration capabilities for devices they manufacture. It also has a strong analytics framework for performing batch, real time and predictive analytics on data streams from devices. Processed device data can be shared with other consumers allowing integration between devices or systems.
In this talk, Sumedha will introduce WSO2 IoT Server. He will focus on how device manufacturers and integration architects can make use of existing features of WSO2 IoT Server or extend them.
Mobile & IoT
Devices are increasingly getting connected to the Internet. Nowadays even some water boilers can be controlled remote and more people are building their own home automation solutions using Arduinos, Particle Photons, iBeacons and more. A lot of these devices come with sensors, that tell us anything from the temperature and brightness to location and water level. This session will show how with a little bit of hardware, and WSO2 middleware we can integrate, monitor and control these solutions as well as collect data from them. Adding the IoT platform and combining the features of various WSO2 products allows us to aggregate and analyze this data, turning our normal homes into smart homes. Learning when to turn the lights on or off, turning off the heat when there is no one in the house and letting us know how long the light has been on with no one in the room are just a few of the capabilities.
Cloud
Transport for London (TfL) manages the principal roads across London and is responsible for coordinating roadworks to minimize the impact of disruption. In effect we have to balance the available road network capacity with the level of roadworks we allow at any given time.
The system used to complete this function is called LondonWorks and as part of a wider intelligent transport program, the opportunity to replace the current solution was taken to provide improved information to the coordination teams as well as to introduce more automation to support the process and improve identification of areas where further investigation should be undertaken. We are collecting more data and information types as well as using real time alerting to give insight to system users in order to support better coordination and monitoring of the roadworks from planning through to delivery. The opportunity has been taken to adopt a cloud first approach to maximize opportunities to use new technologies and minimize costs.
The new solution based on WSO2 Cloud Solutions and ESRI Geographic Information System (GIS) will go live later this year. Bringing the business stakeholders closer to the delivery of technology and becoming more agile has changed the relationships of users with technology, resulting in a more usable and integrated solution. Using LondonWorks as a pathfinder for the broader concepts of how to deliver operational technology (OT) over the increasing variety and volume of data available from Internet of Things (IoT) initiatives is leading to the acceleration of the adoption of these technologies.

Cloud computing is rapidly evolving with the introduction of revolutionary container technologies. Virtual machine based deployments are now being replaced with containers, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platforms are being replaced with Containers as a Service (CaaS) platforms and monolithic applications are being decomposed into microservices. The world is now moving towards a new era of cloud computing with containerization. Aligning with this movement, enterprises that are building cloud solutions may need public, private and hybrid cloud platforms.
In this session Imesh will walk you through how WSO2 Cloud and Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions can be used to build a complete enterprise cloud solution. The first half of the session will cover WSO2 Cloud features; application hosting, service hosting, microservice hosting, API management and WSO2 Managed Cloud features. While working at a large automotive manufacturer for more than 7 years, Bernd saw the opportunity to set up SOA architecture using SOAP Web services. They saw the need to replace their home-grown governance tooling. An evaluation of numerous products brought them to WSO2 Governance Registry. As the governance model that ships with it didn’t support their requirements, they created their own model comprising of services, BOs, code lists, etc. Then they defined their lifecycles and deployed them as LC models to WSO2 Governance Registry. They evaluated generic admin clients shipped with WSO2 Governance Registry and other WSO2 products like WSO2 Enterprise Store. To guaranty best user experience they decided to build their own single page apps using JavaScript, Bootstrap, Angular and D3. For their governance API they looked at the different APIs (Gov WS, Jaggery, Gov REST) that were shipped with the products. Since none of them didn’t convince them, they built their own generic governance API. During the whole process they were faced with some advantages and challenges and went through lot of experiences, but eventually were satisfied with their decision to choose WSO2.

Thousands of organizations worldwide already use the ELK stack – or one of its challengers – in order to get real-time insights from their IT assets. When considering WSO2 API Manager, despite its obvious advantages, they can be seemingly unwilling to adopt a new and different statistics oriented product; in other words, WSO2 Data Analytics Server, is not always the option to start with if you have plain statistics needs or if you have invested a lot into some other product. This session explains how to leverage the extensible nature of WSO2 API Manager to collect and analyze API statistics using a third party tool. It gives details on how to write a new data publishing agent, create your own template and configure WSO2 API Manager in order to publish API runtime statistics towards ELK. This talk describes the architecture and the implementation project and gives “how to” guidelines that could be reused to integrate with other products like Splunk or Graylog.

Data is meaningless without proper representation. It is most useful when understood through interaction. WSO2 Dashboard Server brings the ability to design interactive dashboards that can give you insights into data through drill-down views.
Dashboards can be shared among and customized by users to match their preferences. WSO2 Dashboard Server allows each visualization gadget to be wired in the user interface. Each gadget is limited to interacting with a well defined set of input and output data types. This makes it possible for gadgets, even in an interactive dashboard, to be loosely coupled. Microservices architecture (MSA) is a trending topic and many organizations today are leaning towards it given its potential advantages. There are a number of frameworks available for microservices development. In this session, Sameera will introduce the Java framework for microservices development, WSO2 Microservices Framework for Java (WSO2 MSF4J). WSO2 MSF4J provides the necessary framework and tooling for building an MSA solution. He will introduce some core features of WSO2 MSF4J including the programming model, tooling & analytics.
IT Consumerization
Organizations today deploy a plethora of enterprise IT applications to accomplish day-to-day business functions. However, the decision to build or buy these applications are often done in isolation and at various times without much thought on how they may integrate with each other to streamline business processes across teams. This often results in heavy manual effort, data duplication and rework due to human error.
In this session, Shevan will explain how such applications can be integrated with each other to streamline day-to-day business activities and how the WSO2 platform can help in accomplishing this. He will also discuss how WSO2 is eating its own dog food to improve efficiency in operations and integration across business functions and teams.

WSO2 Carbon is the base platform for all products developed by WSO2. The carbon platform offers a wide-range of reusable core components such as user management, security, clustering, caching, logging, monitoring and mediation among others. Apart from the core components, the platform also provides various extension points that can be used for various custom requirements. Some of the commonly used extension points with WSO2 products are mediation, security, custom transport protocol and custom message type extensions. These various extension points allows the carbon platform to be easily adaptable for any custom and specific needs of enterprises and enables enterprises to easily transform their business to a digital connected business.
In this session, we will be talking about the different kinds of advanced extension points available in the carbon platform that can be used for the various needs of any enterprises.

WSO2 provides a platform for the digital transformation of businesses. With WSO2’s product suite users can build platforms that provide the basic layer to deploy solutions. However we need to customize this to support each requirement or use case. WSO2 products redefine middleware by providing an integrated and componentized OSGi-based middleware platform that can be adapted to the specific needs of any enterprise. They practice agility using the extension model. Extensions can be used to customize your requirements in an agile manner by providing the ability to implement feature(s) in each iteration.
There are a number of ready-made extensions freely available to speedup this process. The WSO2 community is mainly involved in developing these extensions. The community can engage and improve the products based on their interests and needs. In this talk you will learn more about these extensions and their benefits for different parties that are part of the WSO2 community.

Historically the telecommunication industry has been a source of disruption across the globe and has impacted everything from how people do business to how they interact socially. In the last decade the industry itself is being disrupted by many new businesses. These operating under a completely different set of rules have shaken the industry with more than 50% of global operators seeing these small start-ups as a major threat.
Technology provided by WSO2.Telco attempts to bridge this gap. Through powering global Initiatives like GSMA Mobile Connect and providing an ‘enabling’ layer, it helps MNO partner and innovate at the speed of internet companies and at the same time continue to provide to ensure the integrity of the core systems on a Telco. This talk will discuss the digital transformation MNOs are undergoing and the fight to remain relevant to its customers.
